Instant Improv Workshop!
February 27 from 3-6 p.m.
Next Generation Theatre, Inc. is excited to offer an improvisational theater workshop for any students in 3rd-10th grades. The workshop will be held on Saturday, February 27 from 3 - 6 p.m. at La Danse Workshop in Spencerport. Cost is only $25 per student. The instructor for this workshop is Julie Donofrio.
Improvisation is acting without a script. Improv creates a fun environment for students to explore their creativity; develop social and communication skills; increase self-confidence; and practice public speaking and teamwork.
In this workshop, students will learn a variety of theater games and comedy improvisation games such as those featured on the television show "Whose Line is it Anyway?" The final 45 minutes of the workshop is a performance/demonstration for an audience of the students' friends and family members.
About the instructor: Julie Donofrio has been making people laugh for years, sometimes on purpose. She began performing at an early age, appearing in her first commercial when she was 3. More recently, she has been working as a comedian and improv actor, doing stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy everywhere from New York City comedy clubs to area colleges to the beverage tent at the Monroe County Fair. She has performed in the Rochester and Toronto Fringe Festivals and her television credits include a guest-starring role in the pilot "Finding Fabulous." Julie is also a children's entertainer and educator. She has worked with Cub Scouts, Young Audiences of Rochester, and at MCC, as well as many other children's organizations.
Register by Monday, February 15 to ensure a spot in the workshop!
